1894 OCT, .30WCF
MADE 4 YEARS AFTER THE '94 RIFLE WAS DISCONTINUED!
Description: A VERY UNUSUAL 1894 OCTAGON RIFLE IN .30WCF THAT WAS MADE FOUR YEARS AFTER THE 1894 RIFLE WAS DISCONTINUED! The Model 1894 in rifle configuration was dropped in 1924 with the introduction of the replacement Model 55. The carbine continued, of course, but the rifle was stopped. However, parts on hand were used up sporadically and this rifle, which is correct in every way including the very late “M-94” barrel marking and “Nickel Steel” stamping is serial number 1029XXX and was made in 1928! Very few of these ultra late M-94 rifles were made before the Great Depression began with the Stock Market Crash of 1929. This is an excellent example retaining excellent barrel blue that is lightly thinning, fine deep mag blue shows light wear only, retains about all the dull blue/black 1920s receiver blue that has the usual dulling brown flaking mixed in, but not silver or gray. Excellent stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit, stock has a little fancier wood than standard, exc. screws, exc. blue on the forend cap, minty bore, buckhorn and blade sights, simply a great example of the very last style of great pre-war 1894 rifle!
