Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Rifle
Description:
Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Rifle
Caliber: 32/40
Barrel: 26"
Note: This is a pre-WWI, speical order, model 1894 rifle in the desireable 32/40 caliber. The rifle has a 26" barrel with a button magazine and shotgun butt. Given its 103 years of life, the gun retains a reasonable amount of original finish. The frame retains about 25% of original finish. The barrel, closer to 80%, fading and turning a plum brown. The original wood has had a finish put on it at some point, but wood to metal is good overall, with slight shrinking at the underside of the forend cap. The bore is frosted from chamber to muzzle, but still retains a mild luster. The lands and grooves, although a bit worn, are still fine for firing. Overall, a nice little rifle, reflecting the 1912 period it came from.
