Winchester Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine very early "Third Model". The serial number of this example is 49XXX placing date of manufacture in 1869070. Overall condition is very good with the Brass Frame and Butt Plate toned to a perfect, uncleaned and untouched mustard/marbled patina. Traces of "Fire Blue" remain on the Loading Gate. The barrel and magazine tube have retained a mix of factory blue and plum patina free of any damage. The bore is exceptional for this early third model. The rifling is strong with shine from muzzle to breech with scattered lite pitting as expected. Wood to metal fit is perfect and all original to this early Carbine.
