#4912 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB w/SST, extremely early 2nd Variation
Description:
#4912 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB w/SST, extremely early 2nd Variation serial numbered in the 28XXX range (1879) and having the very desirable thumbprint dustcover. Smooth action, G/G+ bore, about a 6 on a scale of 10. It has strong rifling but has darkness, scale, and lead build-up the entire length and while it looks like it will still spin a bullet, just how accurate it would be is anyones guess. The exterior is VG smooth metal with an even plum brown patina on the frame, the barrel and magazine have been “juiced up” with Cold Blue which (in MY opinion) should be allowed to “brown out” so as to better match the frame. The wood is very nice with no serious damage, the Buckhorn rear sight is the early style, Rocky Mountain style front sight. A very handsome rifle with both the single set trigger and the scarce thumbprint dustcover. VG+ $2575
