PARTICULARLY FINE 1873 OCT RIFLE IN 38-40 CALIBER, #357XXX, MADE 1890
Description: PARTICULARLY FINE 1873 OCTAGON RIFLE IN .38-40 CALIBER, #357XXX, MADE 1890. A really fine, uncleaned example that shows nice deep receiver blue that is mixing a little plum on the forward third and edges with plenty of fine bright blue in all the more protected areas of the top and bottom portions also. Barrel and magazine also show an even soft blue mixing plum from age with excellent markings and original sights. Mellow brass lifter is free of dents and scratches and has never been polished, shows the clear “38 CAL” stamping. Fine+ stock and forearm show only normal light handling and one hairline crack coming back for a couple inches from the upper tang on the left side- really minor and you have to look hard to find it. Fine action with the lever spring only very slightly weak, dust cover intact, bore shows fine even rifling throughout with only minor surface scattered roughness. This one has a really attractive honest blue finish overall that has clearly not been cleaned or “helped.” Getting very hard to find this nice without paying a fortune!
