RARE 1ST MODEL WINCHESTER 1873 MUSKET
Description:
This is an early 1st Model Musket made in 1876 with standard 30 inch barrel and 3 barrel bands. Only about 500 of these were mfg. Not only is it rare, it is in fine condition with most original receiver blue remaining. All barrel blue is present with slight thinning. Traces of case color remain on the hammer and lever, butt plate is mostly silvered out. Bore has good shine with deep rifling and just a few light pits. Wood is good on forearm with just the usual small dings that you would expect to see on a 140 year old gun. Stock is good with a little figure showing on the left side. There is a small hair line crack coming off the upper tang next to the screw. This musket appears to have been made from a carbine frame with the saddle ring holes plugged with screws. This musket has been over seas judging from the British proof marks on the barrel and frame. Over all this is a very fine rare old Winchester for the collectors looking to fill a hole in their collection.
