Winchester 1876 3rd Model 45-60 Excellent Bore
Description:
Offered for your consideration is this fine vintage 1876 Winchester in Mr. Tom Horn's favorite caliber, 45-60 WCF. Made in 1884 it has a 28 inch octagon barrel with an excellent bore that I would rate 8.5+ on a 10 scale, nice bright bore and sharp rifling, no frosting or pitting that I can see. This will be a fine shooter! Receiver is mechanically excellent, cycles smoothly and locks up tight with no evident wear. The dust cover operates correctly and doesn't have excess play. There are traces of original finish in protected areas but mostly a nice even plum blue patina. The wood is tight and solid and stands proud above all mating metal surfaces. It shows no evidence of being sanded or refinished. There appears to be one very old crack on the bottom front of the forearm. It's barely visible and doesn't move but wanted to mention it. Overall this is a solid and correct 1876 in better condition than most I see these days. 45-60 ammo is available from a number of suppliers and this would be a blast to deer hunt with this fall! Be glad to take any additional photos you'd like to see. $50.00 insured shipping in a hard case to your address. This is a pre 1899 antique and can be shipped direct to buyer.
