Winchester 1876 "Centennial" Third Model Rifle .45-75WCF
Description:
Winchester 1876 lever-action rifle in what we deduce to be .45-75 Winchester Center Fire. We have the Cody letter on this rifle but both it and the rifle are missing the caliber marking. The bore calipers to be a .45 bullet and from what we can see the chamber is necked down, leading us to the .45-75, which is a necked cartridge.
28" barrel octagon barrel, full length mag tube. Crescent butt with sliding door storage (tube missing). The barrel is almost entirely a grey-brown patina with minor amounts of blue remaining. The frame is mostly a plum brown patina with some blue remaining. The wood is in very good condition for its age with some dings and nicks but no cracks. There is a compass someone added to the right side of the butt stock, likely early in the rifle's life. Folding rear ladder sight marked 1876. The sliding dust cover is loose, but works. The bore is dark but might shine up with a good cleaning, rifling looks good.
The Cody Letter only gives that it is a Rifle, Octagon barrel, Plain trigger, received in Warhouse October 05, 1883 and shipped in 1884.
This is an antique and can be shipped directly to you. Shipping and insurance charge is $35.
