This Winchester is Model 1885 Plain Sporting Rifle with an extra heavy No. 4 barrel. Manufactured between 1886-1887
This rifle was (1) of (30) identical rifles that were received in the warehouse on October 11th, 1887, and shipped to E.C. Meachum's hardware store in St. Louis Missouri on October 12th, 1887.
E.C. Meachum was a large outfitting store, and it sold all of the essentials needed for the people moving west to homestead. They sold wagons, mules, horses, guns, dry staples, clothes, tools, cookware, etc.
