Description:
Winchester Model 1886 Rifle in .40-82 WCF. 26" octagon barrel with a full length magazine tube and iron sights, silver blade front and semi-buckhorn rear with elevator. Walnut stocks with 13" length of pull and a crescent metal butt-plate. Condition; Metal: Mostly patina but some blue in protected areas. Wood: There are scratches, dings and gouges in each but the forend saw the worst of time. Bore: There is some shine remaining with light to moderate frosting throughout, and there are a few small pits. But the worst is a ring, making a full circle around the rifling, its located about three inches from the muzzle. The probable cause was a lodged bullet, snow or mudd in the bore, then the rifle was shot, causing the ring. There is no indication of the ring on the external surfaces of the barrel. Weighs: 9 Lbs., 6 Oz. Serial Number: 41431, making date of manufacture in 1890. There are a total of 11 photographs and all can be seen on the web-ad at Cabela's Gun Library .
