Description:
#4818 Winchester 1892 OBFMCB rifle, 38WCF, 25XXX which is approx 1894 production. The bore is easily a 6+ to 7, but does have a shallow “hung slug” ring in the bore and some scattered light pitting. There is no bulge evident on the exterior and the ring is far enough down the bore so this should still be very accurate …but only shooting it will tell for sure. The exterior is smooth deep plum brown metal, no pitting, very good markings and barrel address, and a tight action. The wood is well above average for a 110 year old gun, with the exception that the varnish has been scraped off in spots (see photos). It has no slivers and no cracks of mention, just the average dents and scratches from 100+ years of life. The rear barrel sight is a standard buck horn, front sight is the pinched blade sporting style. It’s getting tough to find a Model 1892 in the “antique range” in ANY decent condition as they are quite popular amongst the Cowboy Re-inactor shooters. VG $1295
