Antique Winchester 1892. Octagon barrel. 38-40 Caliber. Excellent function and A Very Good Bore
Description:
SOLD...Antique Winchester 1892. Octagon barrel. 38-40 caliber. Here is a real nice untouched model 1892 Winchester .. S/N 39880 and made in early 1894.. Real nice 1892 in the great shooting and very accurate 38-40 caliber. Has the standard 24" barrel. The bore is very good. Shows some very light roughness but NO big pits or craters. NO rings or bulges. Has strong rifling all the way through. The mechanics are excellent.. The action is smooth as silk and it feeds, fires and ejects flawlessly. Very accurate. The gun has never been cleaned on or messed with. The finish a is a smooth medium to dark brown patina and shows NO pitting any whwere on the gun. Never cleaned on or messed with and just the way you love to find them. Has the original 92 Winchester front sight and the rear sight looks like it is from a second model 1873 as it is a little shorter than the standard rear sights on the 92's.. The top of the buckhorn on the rear sight has been filed down a bit as is very common to see on these old Winchesters. Looks like it has been on the gun for ever. Either way, this ole 92 still has original Winchester sights. ALL of the markings are excellent. The wood is very nice. The forearm has NO splits or cracks and shows some honest dings and scratches. It fits tight and prowd to all the metal and never sanded on or messed with. The butt stock does have a couple tigh grain splits behind the receiver about two inches long but all are still solid and tight. I have photos of them and they do not detract from honesty of the gun. The butt stock also fits tight and prowd to the metal.. All the screws are good and not all burred up. This is just a very nice and honest antique 92. These antique 92's and 94's are getting hard to find is nice condition and still at reasonable prices. This gun shoots as good as the day it was made. The good thing about all of my long guns is the fact that they ALL function like they are suppose to and need NO repairs or parts. ALL are test fired by me. I am not responcible for any one who does not have the knowledge of shooting antique firearms so please know what you are doing in the loading and firing of these guns. They are not toys.!!!! Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured mail shipping. Thank you for looking and please check out my other items for sale while you are here.
