Offered for your consideration is this beautiful 1892 rifle in the most desirable 44-40 caliber. Made in 1906 it has the standard 24 inch barrel and the bore is like new from chamber to muzzle, mirror bright and sharp rifling! It has a Lyman #4 ivory bead front sight and a Winchester #24A Flat Top rear sight with 1901 patent date thumb style elevator. The barrel and magazine retain near perfect blue at 95%. The receiver is mechanically excellent, feeds, chambers and ejects smoothly. The receiver retains 60% blue with no pitting on any surface. The screw slots are all in excellent condition and haven't been buggered up. The action is smooth as silk when you cycle the bolt and the hammer holds properly on half and full cock. The trigger is smooth and crisp and breaks at just over 3 pounds. The buttstock and forearm are of nicely grained black walnut, solid and tight with no cracks, chips, extra holes or bad dents. It does have the usual light handling marks consistent with a rifle of 110 years but nothing I would note as significant. Overall this is a well above average 1892 Winchester in the desirable 44-40 caliber - and with the condition of the bore I'm sure it will be an excellent shooter. Barring another 3 feet of snow I will be test firing this weekend!
