EARLY SPECIAL ORDER 1894 HALF OCT. BARREL WITH FULL MAGAZINE, .32WS
Description: VERY EARLY SPECIAL ORDER 1894 HALF OCTAGON BARREL WITH FULL MAGAZINE, .32WS CALIBER, SERIAL NUMBER IN THE 227XXX RANGE, which would put this one at 1901 manufacture date...but the .32 WS wasn't introduced until 1902- no doubt the receiver was numbered in 1901. I have a Cody Museum call-in sheet on this one and the rifle wasn't built for a few years, being shipped in 1904!, I've actually seen .32WS caliber 1894s with antique serial numbered receivers that lettered as shipped in 1903 or later! The half octagon with full mag. feature is actually two special order features as the factory automatically put half magazines with half oct. barrels unless specifically ordered with a full mag., this is a scarce combination, fine deep barrel and mag blue, receiver mostly gray with some good blue in the most protected areas and on the tang where there was obviously a tang sight fitted at one time, two leaf folding rear sight with Lyman "JACK" sight on the front which is a half moon with ivory bead, generally exc. screws and excellent stock and forend with a little fancier than standard grain mainly in the forend which was typically chosen for special order rifles, tight wood to metal fit, exc. screws, exc. bore.
