Winchester Model 1894 .30 WCF (S/N: 77961)
Description:
This 1894 Winchester .30 WCF has been in a gun safe since being handed down from grandfather and would make any hunter collector proud to add this reliable and timeless “94” to their collection. The straight English grip walnut buttstock has the steel crescent butt plate and fits near flawlessly with the tangs and receiver. The walnut forearm is fitted to the receiver, full length magazine and 26” octagon nickel steel barrel with nearly original tolerances. This early production “94” is equipped with a Winchester semi-buckhorn (22 H) rear sight with gooseneck elevator and Marble sheard front sight.
The manufacture date is either 1897 or 1899 depending on which Winchester documentation is researched. The Serial Number Applied records lists this "94" (SN 77961) as being manufactured in early 1897, possibly January, the Polishing Room serialization records lists it as sometime in 1899. Overall condition has been appraised at 60%-70% with buttstock and barrel showing some wear from being used with an offside leather saddle scabbard. There are minor losses where the stock meets the end of the upper tang and lower receiver. All markings are clear, the action is crisp and tight and the bore is clean and bright with strong rifling.
