ANTIQUE 1895 FLATSIDE RIFLE IN .30 U.S. CALIBER (.30-40), #1XXX, MADE 1896
Description: EARLY AND RARE ANTIQUE 1895 FLATSIDE RIFLE IN .30 U.S. CALIBER (.30-40 KRAG), #1XXX, MADE 1896! Only the first few thousand of these were made with flatside receivers and one piece levers, they are seldom seen today, this is a nice one with early Long Lyman Receiver sight with patent date of "June 25, '95", the receiver shows better blue under and around this sight showing that it was probably put on this one when new, right side of receiver shows some faint wispy blue with the balance gray, still retains some fine blue on the bolt and in protected areas, fine aged and thinned barrel blue with some areas of uncleaned gray showing through, original buckhorn rear sight with pinned blade front sight, 28" barrel, exc. wood with tight wood to metal fit, forend tip retains the ebony inlay, has one early hook-eye swivel, tight action and surprisingly excellent bore. a really honest example of a very hard to find antique 1895 with a scarce and desirable early Lyman sight!
