Winchester Model 1895 Caliber 30/40 Lever Action Rifle
Description:
Winchester Model 1895 Caliber 30/40 Lever Action Rifle
Caliber: 30/40
Barrel: 28"
Note: This is an example of Winchester's model 1895 box magazine, lever action rifle in caliber 30/40 Krag. This particular rifle was manufactured in 1915. The rear sporting buckhorn sight was replaced by Lyman's model 41 peep sight that was patented in 1907. As would be expected in a hundred year old gun, it shows lots of handling wear. The only blue remaining on the action is on the leading edge of the bolt and in a few protected places in the magazine area. Roughly 20-30% of original blue remains on the barrel, most of which is turning a plum brown. The bore has a nice luster with strong lands and grooves, but has dulled with years of use. The only major apology on this old war horse is the repair done at the wrist where a nut and bolt have been installed to repair a drying crack at the rear of the tang. Note: we have a very fine woodstock restorer on our staff and the stock could be repaired cosmetically for $150-$200.
