WINCHESTER MODEL 53 - CAL. .44 W.C.F.
Description:
"SALE PENDING" - Winchester Model 53 - Cal. 44 W.C.F. - 22" Bbl. - SN 507 (1924). Bore is perfect, bright with sharp rifling - excellent smooth action. Metal is excellent with no rust, pits, stains,or corrosion - sharp markings and perfect screws. Barrel, forend cap,and lever retain 95% + blue - receiver has 50% - 60% with some thinning and flaking on the sides and bottom - corrugated buttplate is undamaged and retains about 50% thinning blue - the buttplate is a little "proud" at the top but a perfect fit otherwise and looks to be original to the gun. Wood is undamaged with no cracks, chips, or splits ; retains 90% to 95% finish and shows some scuffs, minor dings, and scrapes from normal handling and use - a few lightly worn areas at grip, rear of buttstock, and lower forend appear to have been touched up slightly. Approximately 25,000 of the Model 53s were made from 1924 to 1931 but only about 3000 were produced in .44 caliber. The 53 was noted as a very nice fast handling rifle with it's light weight, 1/2 magazine, and tapered barrel, especially in the smaller calibers. This early 1st year production rifle is all original and untouched, except as noted, shows moderate wear from normal use for its' age, and is in the very desirable and scarce .44 caliber and will make a super shooter and collectible.
