Description:
For those who want an unusual Winchester that has been customized by the highly regarded Lenard Brownell, this is it. Made in late 1951 before Winchester implemented cost cutting changes that lowered the quality of Model 70's. Brownell, now deceased was located in Wyoming. He was know best for his "metalsmithing." He was so good that Bill Ruger hired him to lead in the development of Ruger's Model 77 bolt action rifle. This Winchester has rings that have his "LB" on the ring post levers and a quarter rib that had both a fixed or standing blade and s second folding blade. It appears beautifully installed. I understand from the gentleman who sold me the gun that the original owner put it in a safe for more than a decade before it was sold to the second owner who used it gently for some elk hunting. Wood is desirable quarter sawed. Bolt is jeweled. No known issues of any kind. This gun is ready to hunt or to keep as a piece of 20th century gun history. Sold without any warranties, express or implied.
