Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 300 H&H Cerakote
Description:
This great rifle is no longer factory original, but has been ideally set up for the serious big game hunter with the addition of the following: All metal components other than flip up rear sight and swivels have been treated with a precise application of Cerakote for increased weather resistance, the trigger has been expertly tuned, and a reproduction Winchester solid red pad cleanly mounted and contoured to manage recoil. The LOP with pad is now 13" to account for use of heavier clothing during fall hunting season.
With that said, here are the specs: 1958 Winchester 70 in 300 H&H Caliber. Original 26" Barrel. S/N 431xxx. Bolt Serial # is no longer present or legible. 99% metal coating, 96%+ Varnish with scattered light handling marks only. Mechanics and bore are excellent.
The original and still best 300 HH is a fabulously performing round that maintains a significant following even today from those in the know, due to it's supreme accuracy, great feeding, slightly quieter report and reduced recoil compared to it's close cousins, but with the ideal velocity, speed, and trajectory for whacking medium large critters. I have personally verified that this chamber has NOT been reamed out to 300 Weatherby, as is so often the unfortunate reality.
Overall, a great set up in one of the scarcer M70 calibers, priced well under replacement cost.
