WINCHESTER MODEL 70 PRE '64 257 ROBERTS ... 23 1/2" Medium weight barrel ... Transition Safety ... LOA 44" ... LOP 12 3/4" ... DAH 1 1/2" ... DAC 1" ... Leupold bases ... Leupold rings ... Kahles 3-9x42mm ... 2 line trademark ... Ebony forend tip ... Engraved ... Manufactured in 1948.
The receiver is a deep blue with the Winchester "WP" proof and two-line trademark on the receiver rail. The receiver has been fitted with Leupold bases and rings mounting a Kahles 3-9x42mm scope. The floorplate and triggerguard have been engraved with tight flourishes of floral scroll engraving with the initials "DRH" near the rear of the floorplate. This original medium weight barrel is tapered, has a custom muzzle break, and has been turned down to remove the rear sight dog knot. The bolt handle hole has been enlarged and the scope bases have been machined to reduce weight. The rings and bases have a satin nickel finish.
The stock is a single piece of nicely figured walnut with Fleur de Lis checkering at the forearm and pistol grip. Ebony wood forend cap, sling swivel studs, checkered blue steel grip cap and a checkered blue steel buttplate. The wood is excellent with scattered light handling marks and a few minor indentations.
Condition is very good as embellished and refinished with 99% of the current polished blue finish with some small light handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent with clear optics.
