Antique 1894 Winchester. 38-55. Octagon barrel. Mint Bore. Some Finish.
Description:
SOLD...Real nice true antique Winchester 1894. Here is a way above average 1894 Winchester. Has the standard 26” octagon barrel and in the very sought after 38-55 caliber. This is another true antique 1894 and made in 1898 S/N 43098 all confirmed with the included Cody work sheet. To start with, the bore is mint bright and shiny like a mirror with NO roughness or pits what so ever. It is a mint bore PERIOD. Not a reline job neither. All the markings are excellent. Original front and rear sights. Mechanics are excellent as well. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. Shoots like a brand new gun!! The metal is smooth with no pitting, The receiver is a smooth medium brown patina never cleaned on or messed with. Still has the factory machine marks on the sides. The barrel has good traces of original blue remaining. Some light cleaning of the patina at the barrel address and the caliber markings. The mag tube has about 40% bright blue with the balance turning the same medium brown patina as the barrel. The wood is very nice. The forearm has no splits or cracks and barely any scratches or dings. Has a little darkening right on the bottom behind the forearm cap and a little wear in this area but nothing at all detracting. Still fits tight like new and full to the metal. The butt stock is very nice as well with NO splits or cracks. Just shows some minor dings and a little larger dinged area on the left side as you can see. It fits tight like new to the metal and butt plate... A very small hole is filled on the bottom of the stock {see photo}. Probably someone at some time has a sling swivel that they removed. It does not retract from the gun and looks good. NO other issues or repairs. The wood still has the great original color and not all oil or sweat soaked like you often see. All of the screw heads look like they have never been touched or turned. Has the early “heart” shaped hammer knurling found on early S/N 94's and the 92's.. { see photo}.. Not much else to say abut this wonderful 1894. It is 100% original in every way and never messed with. Excellent wood, mint bright bore and perfect mechanics.. The most popular configuration with octagon barrel and 38-55 caliber.... Here is another 94 that I really do not want to sell but I have bought a few other Winchesters that I am keeping and I can”t kee'em all!!!! Of course you can find these with more bright blue for a lot more money but you will not find one with a better bore...Priced a bit higher than the other one I have listed that is on HOLD but a better gun overall and a flat out mint bore makes the price difference. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. Thank you for looking and check back often as I have lots more to get listed soon.
