Parker Lifter 10 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun D Grade circa 1869
Description: SOLD A fine early Parker Lifter Double Barrel shotgun made in either 1868 or early 1869. This is a 10 gauge with 30 inch barrels...both choked .760. The right barrel has a bulge right at the end of the forearm. The barrel is not split and no original solder has separated and they still ring. The original butt stock has a beautiful grain and remains tight to the frame like when it left the factory. It most likely had a steel checkered butt plate...you can still see where the widows peak came into the top of the stock. The forend is later Parker vintage and must have went back to the factory possibly for a barrel and forearm change. They are both stamped with the serial number and a b prefix. The action is as solid as a vault and the sidelocks are perfect mechanically with strond springs and fine firing pins. All markings on the action, barrel address and water tables are crystal clear and the metal is in original finish. The stocks appear to be in original finish and have never been sanded with the wood to metal fit having been worked by a master Parker stock carver in 1869. The butt stock looks like it sat by a window where light faded the color out of it...it would be simply beautiful with some hand rubbed oil worked back in...but this stock is solid with no issues except the butt plate...no cracks or repairs of any kind. Checkering is still sharp on that classic looking on that splendid round knob pistol grip. LOP is 13 3/8 to the edge of the stock itself...not the pad. It has its original hammers and it appears the hammer screw on the right side was replaced...nicely done and engraved. The lifter and pin are tight and the lifter engagement is as smooth as glass. The action is tight on face with just the slightest movement when the forearm is off. This would be a great early serial range Parker to have sleeved for 12 or 20 gauge by Briley or have another set of barrels fitted to it. A fine specimen of an early Parker at the beginning of the western period. USPS priority mail is 30.00 SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Parker Model: Lifter Gauge Info: 10 |
