“SELMA ALA” Marked Antique Percussion Fowler
Description:
“SELMA ALA” Marked Antique Percussion Fowler
Interesting Shotgun with British Proofs & Selma Placard
Here we present an antique Percussion Fowling Piece, made circa 1840. This is a very interesting piece. It bears British proof marks on the left side of the barrel. The bottom of the barrel is marked “KARNSLEY”, the maker. The stock bears a small placard marked “W.B. GILL,/SELMA, ALA.” According to Alabama Pioneers, “The earliest furniture man and undertaker was W. B. Gill, who also sold buggies and wagons.”
The overall condition of this piece is that of a relic. The metal surfaces are dark. The markings are mostly clear and legible. The bore is smooth and oxidized. The action is mobile, but does not hold cock. It appears that the lock is a very old replacement. Nevertheless, here is an interesting relic from the American South.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 46 inches in length.
Caliber: .65
Overall condition as seen in photos.
