ANTIQUE German ORNATE Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun
Description:
ANTIQUE German ORNATE Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun
Baumann a Widdern, Germany, Ornate, 19th Century
Here we present an antique Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made circa 1840 by F. Baumann of Widdern, Germany. This shotgun is an example of 19th century European hand-craftsmanship with its extensive and delicate brass inlays and engraving. The right side lock plate reads “F. Baumann” and the left side “a Widdern” in fancy script. The top of the double barrel also reads in this manner with the letters inlaid. There is a similarly inlaid spider design around the bead sight toward the muzzle. The barrels begin octagonal at the breech and develops more facets toward the muzzle. There is a small 4-pointed compass on the cheek rest on the left side of the stock. Sling swivels are on the bottom of the stock and midway under the barrels.
This would make a very nice display piece.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. No other examples found worldwide!
Barrel is 28-5/8 inches in length.
Caliber: approximately 28 guage
Bore is in good condition. The firing mechanism is not functional.
Overall condition as seen in photos.
Here is a beautifully ornate old German shotgun that would look fantastic over the mantle.
