Browning Gr. III “Fighting Cocks” 12 gauge O/U shotgun. Made in 1952 the “Fighting Cocks” grade superposed is one of the most recognizable of the pre 1960’s Brownings. This particular Gr. III was engraved by and the work signed by the renowned Browning master engraver: Felix Funken. This gun started with one set of 28” F/F vent rib barrels that were opened to Skeet/IM (.005”/.025”) and then the gun was fitted with a second set of Browning Pigeon grade 26 ½” vent rib barrels choked Cyl/IC (.000”/.015”). The buttstock has a 14 ¼” LOP to the Browning butt plate, 1 ½” DAC & 2 ¼” DAH with significant right hand cast of 3/8” at the heel and ½” at the toe. Overall condition is 95-97% with deductions for handling marks over the years. Please note the photo of the rib on the 28” barrels; apparently someone didn’t like where the original middle bead was located! Weighs 7 lbs. 2 oz. with the 28” barrels. Comes in a period correct Brownign/Tolex two barrel case.
