Browning Midas 12 circa 1963
Description:
Browning Midas 12 gauge O/U shotgun. Made in 1963 well prior to the “salt era”, this Midas has 26 ½” barrels choked Skeet & Skeet, hand filed vent rib with front and center beads. It is a unique combination of a target gun and a field gun. The stock dimensions are more target style with a 14” LOP to the Browning butt plate, which is more field style, and a 1 ½” DAC & 2” DAH (target dimensions) on the highly figured stock with a slight cast favoring a right hand shooter. The stock has a flat knob and a traditional long tang. The forearm is skeet style but much slimmer than the later flat/beavertail forearm. The beautiful Midas engraving was done by, and signed by master engraver: Louis Vrancken. There is a factory inset escutcheon on the bottom of the stock with the initials “WGH” engraved. This Midas weighs 6 lbs. 15 oz. As far as condition goes this original Midas is 98%+ overall with the sole deduction for a “ding” in the finish on the very front of the comb (see picture). To top it off this Midas comes in a correct vintage Hartmann take-down case.
