Browning Superposed Grade I 12G 2 barrel set mfg. 1936
Description:
Sale Pending 12/20!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a Browning Superposed Grade I shotgun manufactured and sold 1936 as indicated in the factory letter. There are two sets of barrels: 26" Cyl/Cyl and 28" M/F. The original case accompanies the gun.
The Beaver Tail forearms are unique and are mentioned in the factory letter. The following is from a Browing brochure about these forearms: "Our Beaver-Tail is pear shaped in cross section and nearly flat on the underside giving a perfect hand full and is rounded to afford a comfortable grip. Its sides are straight, curving in flush with the frame at the rear end. Shooters have pronounced this the most attractively designed and best shaped Beaver Tail ever put on any gun. It is available by special order only on all grades at prices ranging from $20 and up." They are indeed unique and collectors will appreciate them.
The guns appear to be original and unmolested. The case is very tired but what you would expect of a gun made in 1936. The gun shows wear but what you'd expect. The original ivory beads are intact on both barrels.
This gun is from the Oliver-Brice collection which is extensive and includes a number of unique and collectible guns like this.
