Description:
This 1970 Belgian Browning Sweet Sixteen A5 Model is in excellent all-original condition. The Belgian-made FN/Browning A5 Model was the first successful semi-auto shotgun design ever produced. First manufactured in 1900, the Browning A5's have long had a reputation for being a quality made shotgun that is both reliable and attractive. Manufactured for almost 100 years until 1998, the "Humpback" Brownings made in Belgium prior to the manufacturing being moved to Japan are sought-after today as prized collectibles. This Belgian-made Sweet Sixteen A5 is serial number 70S97710 and features a 26" inch vent-rib barrel that is choked "Improved Cylinder" (2 stars and a bar). The original factory gloss blue finish is beautiful and rates a solid 97 to 98%. It shows no carry wear to the finish, only some tiny handling marks visible under close inspection. The gold finished trigger retains 99% of it's original finish. As you can also see in the pictures, all of the screw heads in the receiver and tang appear unturned and in like-new shape. The bore is spectacular in this shotgun. It is minty and bright, and shows no pitting, dents, or bulges whatsoever. The internals of this shotgun are also minty and appear new. It is quite likely this gun has been only fired a handful of times in it's entire life. The original stock set is in excellent condition. It is 100% free from cracks or repairs, and the only deductions we can find appear to be some small dings and handling marks typical of a gun that has spent it's life in a safe or crowded gun cabinet. The black composite FN Browning branded buttplate is tight to the buttstock, and is in great shape and free from cracks or chipping. The length of pull is 14.25" inches to the end of the plate, the standard un-altered factory length. As I mentioned previously, this Sweet Sixteen could pass as unfired since it was test fired at the factory. The action is smooth and snaps closed like it left the factory yesterday. The bolt and bolt face show no evidence of being fired nor does any other part that shows wear. All of the controls work 100% like they did when they left the factory. If you have been looking for a super clean investment-worthy Browning Sweet Sixteen to add to your collection, this is it.
