Nitro Proof Ferlach mark. Both muzzles are flush. Front sight—bead. Rear sight--dovetail Weight 6 pounds 2 ounces Bolting is Purdey-type double under bolt with conventional top lever and a well-fit doll’s head rib extension. External hammer locks are true back-action locks. Double triggers inside an engraved trigger guard—one for each barrel. Top tang contains a folding peep sight that folds down flush into a recess. Stock appears to be dark Walnut with an open pistol grip, a buffalo horn grip cap and a serrated horn butt plate with a pancake cheekpiece and sling swivels (3/4”). The forend is checkered on the right side and is secured with a Deeley-type pulldown latch. Side plates are nicely engraved with a Hound on the right and both a Fox and a Stag on the left. It is believed that Johann Sigott was a gunsmith of the world-famous Ferlach, Austria Guild and that he produced his last guns by 1945, of which this is one. (Gun appears similar to that of a Johann Peterlongo of Innsbruck, Austria.) The gun was brought back to the USA after World War II by a US serviceman and given to my Father. The shotgun was fired though both firing pins need to be reworked and the gun tested before use. (The above description is believed accurate though not guaranteed.)
