Karl Kormes Drilling 16x16x ?
Description: SALE PENDING Karl Kormes of Leipzig, Germany drilling. 16x16x? I think the rifle caliber is 9.3x80r which is close to an American .38-55. A chamber casting came up with a maximum case length 85mm and a bullet just short of 10mm diameter. It is a slightly tapered case which might also accept a 9.3x82r. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it until one of you drilling experts tells me otherwise! The 28 ¼” barrels were reblued some time ago and have mint shotgun bores with 2 ½” chambers and the rifle bore is strong. Also on the barrel are two folding rifle sights, one activated by the tang mounted rifle selector and the other manually moved and there are claw scope mount bases attached. The gun is handsome with very typical Germanic game scene engraving on the receiver and on the button-activated hinged cartridge compartment in the stock. Horn buttplate and the horn trigger guard has been broken a functionally repaired. The wood is normal straight grained walnut that appears to have all of its original finish and varnish. The stock has a 14” LOP, 1 ¾” DAC & 3 1/8” DAH; the safety is inletted into the left side and there is an old repair at the toe. The receiver is a coin finish and on the left side crescent where the stock meets there is a Belgien (sic) patent number; same thing on the right with a German DRGM number. The action has two underlug locks and a third fastener cross bolt. Standard double triggers gun with the front trigger have a screw for adjustment. Note next to the front trigger is a button that de-cocks the shotgun barrel associated with the front trigger! 7 lbs. 1 oz. Neat pre-war drilling. $1,650.00 2422 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
