Fox B 12 Gauge – LATE ENGRAVING, DOUBLE BARREL VINTAGE FIREARMS
Description: Fox B 12 Gauge LATE ENGRAVING General Specs: A.H. Fox, Year 1916, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 1oz, SxS Serial Number: 23291 The B Grade Fox was relatively short lived as a Grade in the A.H. Fox lineup, being discontinued from their catalog offerings in 1918. There are a fair number of the B Grades seen with the early style engraving, but only 606 were ever produced with the late style B engraving. That puts this Fox in the SCARCE GUN category with only a few hundred made with #2 weight barrels. Engraved with a full coverage foliate and game scene style, it is a very handsome Fox. Pleasing to the eye (often mistaken for an X Grade from a distance), with nice wood, factory checkered side-panels, engraved barrel wedge, and a great quail scene, this is an affordable, full coverage engraved Fox. I just checked the entire internet offerings and there are only 3 offered, and they all have pads and/or bad stock dimensions. This fine B Grade Fox, sn23291 made in 1916, weighs in at a svelte 7lbs., which for a 12ga. American gun is on the very light side. Wearing 30” number 2 weight (heavier barrels for heavier loads) Krupp Steel barrels choked F/F, having great modern stock dimensions, and being mechanically excellent in every way, this is a great investment quality Fox that can be enjoyed in the field or at your gun club shooting clays while it continues to increase in value. Notice that this gun has not been altered since it left the factory in the way of stock dimensions and barrels. It still has the factory butt plate where most you see have an aftermarket pad and a short stock. The screws are perfect, the engraving is sharp and clear, and the barrels have been nicely rust blued. There are no case colors left and that really lets the engraving show well. If you want it to have Turnbull Restorations bone and charcoal case color we can have that done within 6 weeks of purchase and the gun would look as new in all ways. What a great gun for late season pheasants, turkey, waterfowl, and long-range doves with its full choke barrels (our in-house gunsmiths can alter the chokes to your desire within a week of purchase), or order some RST spreader loads for your close in stuff. A.H. Fox guns are becoming the choice of those in the know when it comes to using and enjoying American vintage double guns. They are simple, strong, well-balanced, and easy on your eyes. This gun is 102 years old and still tight as new and ready for another century of use. Thanks for looking and don’t let this one get past you! Barrels Barrel Length: 30" Krupp #2wt.
