Fox B Grade 16ga - RARE GUN, 1 of 186 MADE, ENGLISH STOCK, 6LBS!
Description: Fox B Grade 16 Gauge SxS RARE GUN, 1 of 186 MADE, ENGLISH STOCK, 6LBS! General Specs: A.H. Fox, Year 1919, 16 Gauge, 6lbs, Side-by-Side Serial Number: 300890 I am a collector of Fox shotguns. Simply put, I favor them over all other Classic American Doubles. You will see the word “RARE” used by guys trying to sell their guns. Most of the time it is simply a word. The gun is not rare at all. The B Grade Fox small bore, cataloged for only 6 years, is one that indeed is “RARE”. Small bore guns were not produced until 1912, and the B Grade was discontinued in the catalog offerings in 1918, with only 186 ever produced. When you estimate that 15% may have left planet Earth due to damage and loss, there are likely only 160 or so in existence. In all the years spent and all the laps around the country that I have done in search of quality American double shotguns, I have only seen about a dozen B Grade 16ga. guns. This gun, sn300890 was made in 1918 and retains about 65% original case color. Weighing an even 6lbs. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, it is the epitome of a fine handling bird gun. The straight grip stock and awesome modern dimensions are a result of restock sometime in the near past. It is a gorgeous and perfect rendition of the Fox straight stock in all of its shape and contours. With mirror bright bores, 28" Krupp steel barrels choked SK/M, this is the perfect upland gun or vintage clays gun. The shooting public has fallen in love with the Fox 16, and the beautiful floral engraving with birds on the bottom captured in the late B Style engraving is very attractive. A great gun that will hold its value and be one of your treasured vintage "go to" guns, it will be a wise investment in your shooting pleasures.
