H. Holland New Bond St Light 12 ga Rebounding Hammer
Description: Lightweight upland gun by H. Holland (forerunner of the H&H firm) professionally and completely restored in England. Made between 1860 (when the firm moved to New Bond St.) and 1876 (when the name was changed to H&H). This delightful piece of history has outlived its makers and their great grandsons! Original 26"x2 3/4" bp laminated bbls measure 740/702 (R) and 738/720 (L), have been honed with some pitting remaining in chambers and forcing cones and near choke of rt bbl otherwise mirror bright. Recently rebrowned w two small bright marks, ribs are sound. Numbers on bbls 1277 and forend wood match, action number not legible on trigger tang except for the digit 2. Nicely marbled stock 14.5" to pointed horn plate drops 2.25" with moderate cast-off; appears to be original wood with recut checkering and (almost invisible) wrist repair. Jones underlever, absolutely tight on the face (no evidence of repinning or rejointing); gun weighs a tad under 6lb. SOLD |
