Ithaca Classic Double–2 BARREL SET, 20 GAUGE FRAME 20/16 GAUGE BARRELS, HIGH GRADE, WOW!
Description: Ithaca Classic Double 20/16 Gauge Side-by-Side 2 BARREL SET, 20 GAUGE FRAME, 20/16 GAUGE BARRELS, HIGH GRADE, WOW! General Specs: Ithaca, Year 2002, 20/16 Gauge, 20= 6lbs 7oz; 16-6lbs 8oz, SxS Serial Number: 471081DU Many are aware of Steve Lamboy’s resurrection of the famed Ithaca NID design in the late 1990’s, billing his superb side x side the “ITHACA CLASSIC DOUBLE”. The guns were a faithful reproduction of Ithaca’s finest double gun, the New Ithaca Double (NID) that was known to have the strongest and most efficiently designed action of any of the American made double guns…right up there with the Winchester Model 21. Many of the guns produced as Ithaca Classic Doubles followed the standard Ithaca NID grade patterns, ie Grade 4E, 5E, 7E, etc. There were a few “SPECIALS” produced that were the same great mechanics but a one-of-a-kind design. That is what we have here in serial number 471081 built about the year 2000. This unique 20ga./16ga. two-barrel set is the only one ever made, stamped as a Grade 4E Special, but possessing Grade 6 checkering patterns and wood figure, more elaborate engraving with superb gold inlays of a grouse on the left, pheasant on the right side of the receiver, fancy 28lpi borderless checkering with flor-de-lis carvings and fancy checkered sidepanels, and a beavertail forearm that fits both sets of barrels. Built on the smaller 20ga. frame, much like the desirable Parker 16ga. on the “O” frame (20ga frame), the Krupp steel barrels balance the gun and weigh the same with either set of barrels. This gun was built for the Rochester, NY chapter of Ducks Unlimited as a donation to their annual fundraiser and is the only Ithaca Classic Double of its kind. The engraving and stock checkering are unique, and far beyond what you would get on a Grade 4E. We have custom fit a fabulous oak and leather case to properly house the 2-barrel set, including a proper trade label and all accessories. It is a very attractive way to display and transport this special Ithaca, and the case protects the gun from any movement or damage. IT IS NOT a generic case with a label attached. The case was custom built to precisely fit the gun to perfection. Notice the leather protection at the wear areas. This will keep the case from becoming tattered from use. The retail value of this custom-built case is $2,000. Mr. Lamboy and his team of old-world artisans built a highly desirable, versatile set with this gun, with great stock dimensions, the 20ga. barrels more open-choked for the tight holding game, and the 16ga. barrels for your longer shots and heavier game. And Mr. Lamboy, she is a “real looker” this one! Don’t miss this opportunity to own a very special part of the American gun making history and an investment quality, hand built, custom 2-barrel set.
