Ithaca NID 20ga. "Star Grade" Field- AS NEW EJECTORS
Description: Ithaca NID 20 Gauge Side-by-Side "Star Grade" Field- AS NEW, EJECTORS General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1935, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, SxS Serial Number: 459391 Most Field Grade guns were made in prolific numbers. There are Ithaca NID 20 gauge guns offered for less money than this one. However, most Field Grade guns got hard use and are found with little finish remaining, and undesirable alterations like cut stocks, bad pads, cracks and repairs, pitted bores, buggered screws, pits and heavy scratches, etc. There are restored guns, done in mediocre fashion, on the market for less as well. However, it is very difficult to find a NID 20ga. ejector gun in fine original condition like this one. This Ithaca NID Field Grade “Star Model”, sn459391 made in 1935, has all the desired condition and features one looks for in a vintage American small bore double gun. With 28” barrels presently choked F/F (we can alter chokes to your desire within 10 days of purchase), mirror bores, full length stock to a butt plate, strong well-timed ejectors, 95% factory blue, 65% factory case colors, no cracks or repairs, tight as new on hinge and breech face, lever right of center, original wood nicely restored…the gun is ready for another 80 years of good service. The “Star Model” was produced for about 5 years and had 6 stars engraved into the receiver and trigger guard in addition to the setters stamped on the sides of the action. The Ithaca Gun Co. produced the “New Ithaca Double” or “NID” from 1926 to 1949. It succeeded the Flues model and was by far the strongest action produced by Ithaca, or any other American double gun save for the Winchester Model 21. The design of the action left a lot more metal remaining, hence a brutishly strong action made for heavier “Super X” loads that developed in the early 1930’s. This little NID will be an awesome upland game/clays gun for its next owner. An affordable vintage American double in the very popular 20ga., WITH EJECTORS, it will always be a desirable field gun, gaining value as you enjoy its use. The most sought after of all the Ithacas, the NID model is going up in value faster than any of the other American double guns. Thanks for looking.
