L.C. Smith Specialty 12 Gauge - HIGHLY FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, 95% CASE COLOR
Description: L.C. Smith Specialty 12 Gauge Side-by-Side HIGH FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, 95% CC General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1918, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 14oz, SxS Serial Number: FW30600 Why are some guns more expensive, more desirable than others that are labeled the same? I get that question often. Take this gun for example. They made 5000 L.C. Smith Specialty Grade guns in 12ga., 2000 of them with 30" barrels like this one. But when I acquired this gun I was super excited. Again, you ask why? Several very important things make this gun special amongst its Specialty Grade brethren. It has the best factory wood you will find on a Specialty Grade...full flame and feather crotch. The English style stock, a feature only found on 10% or so of the 5000 Specialty 12's made. Condition, with 95% factory case color and barrel blue, 98% factory wood finish, perfect screws, checkering, and bores...even the jewelling on the barrel breech face is still fully evident. Most older guns had lots of drop at heel and comb. Not this gun, with its 2 1/8" DAH, 1 1/2" DAC, 1/8" cast off, it has very modern dimensions. Now look at the engraving. Knowledgeable vintage double gunners often consider the engraving on a Specialty grade a bit crude and rough. This engraving is noticeably superior to all but a few. And last, this gun has amazing handling characteristics, weighing just 6lbs. 14oz. with its 30" barrels and balanced perfectly in hand. Made in 1918, snFW30600 is a special Elsie, and once you have her in hand you will agree with my analysis. This one is stunning. With the 30" Full choke barrels it would be a fine waterfowler, pheasant gun, or turkey killer. With a pocket full of RST spreader loads you can choose to have a more open pattern, or have us open the chokes to your preference within a week of purchase. We have full time gunsmiths so we can change dimensions, chokes, chambers etc. at your request without a wait. This gun has it all...only 200 with English stock and 30" barrels... so rare, high factory condition, very desirable features, and knock out wood. It will be a gun for you to enjoy as it gains in value. All who see it will want it. Thanks for looking!
