LC Smith
Description: Excellent un-touched, Case Colored, Pre-13, LC Smith “O” grade with beautiful Damascus barrels and early style heavy frame. It’s always great to see a standard grade gun that has withstood the ravages of time and has remained in very high condition. This “O” grade should have been used-up long ago, but for some reason was put up and is in excellent, as found condition. Take a look at the pics. This gun has nearly all of its factory original Case Colors – even on the bottom of the action where they are usually worn silver. There are some surface scratches to the factory lacquer on the action, but most of it remains as well. Trigger guard has a little blue wear, but excellent screws. The Damascus barrels and ribs retain a majority of their original dark brown. Take a look at the early type breech face with slotted disc-set firing pins, un-buggered bronze set screws & most of the color – very little evidence of firing. Overall screws are original & excellent. The very nicely figured wood has near perfect checkering and nearly all of the original finish with the normal scratches and a few dings which can be expected on a gun that’s over 100 years old. Has correct factory buttplate. Gun has the patent 3-position safety. The knowledgeable Elsie collector also will recognize the classic unmistakable streamlined early styling (later guns are more angular & have a clunky appearance). These pre-13 Smith are the ones that built the company’s reputation and command a premium. Even this basic model exudes very high overall quality, fit and finish. NOTE: This gun has no cracks in the wood, but there are a few small finish checks around the lock plates and where the lever dragged over the top tang it in past years (pictured), but nothing structural / serious. This is an honest to goodness un-messed with gun and is virtually impossible to find in this configuration and in anywhere close to this original condition. Please refer to images as I attempted to showcase the gun’s excellent overall condition. Barrels 30" F/F, (L .032, R .034) 14 5/8" LOP to correct factory original butt plate. Bores L. .728 R. .727 (mirror bores) Min Walls .033 / .035 Chambers: 2 3/4" Gun weigh: 7 lbs. 9 oz. Any questions please call or e-mail...it cards. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
