Lefever Nitro Special .410 – 99% FACTORY CONDITION SINGLE TRIGGER, GORGEOUS GUN
Description: Lefever Nitro Special .410 Gauge SxS 99% FACTORY CONDITION, SINGLE TRIGGER, GORGEOUS GUN General Specs: Lefever, Year 1936, .410 Gauge, 5lbs 9oz, Side-by-side Serial Number: A329614 Many are not aware that Ithaca bought the Lefever Arms Co. in 1916 and produced a few of these sideplated guns designed by Dan Lefever until production ceased in 1919 and Ithaca moth balled the Lefever name. In 1922 the Ithaca Gun Co. produced the “Lefever Nitro Special” using the well-known name of Dan Lefever to call attention to their affordable but well-made double shotguns. The Lefever Nitro is quite a gun for the money, with the use of non-breakable coil springs, through bolt stock fastening system for a tight draw up of wood-to-metal, butt stock fitted to the rebated frame to prevent splitting, nicely hand-checkered walnut stock with grip cap, bone and charcoal case colored receiver, and basically the same cocking cam system as the more expensive Ithaca NID gun. The American side x side in .410 caliber is a gun that has a rampant following and when looking at cost, prices are waaay higher for the .410. Parker .410’s start at about $20K, L.C. Smith at about $6K, Ithaca NID about $5K, and these prices are for 50% guns. Take any one of the above at 99% factory original condition and you would double the values, literally. This little Lefever .410, snA329614 made in 1936, is in incredible FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION IN ALL WAYS, INCLUDING THE WOOD AND ALL METAL PARTS. The gun is an honest 99% case color, blue, and wood finish, has mirror bores, perfect screws, tight as new with lever way right of center, and has a RARE SINGLE TRIGGER OPTION. This gun has not been altered since leaving the factory 82 years ago. There are no splits, cracks or repairs in the wood, and the LOP of 13 1/8” is measured from the rear-position single trigger, meaning that if this were a two-trigger gun and the LOP measured from the front trigger, the LOP would measure 14 1/8” with the exact same piece of wood on the gun. The stock is not cut. I am 5’ 10” and athletically built and gun fits me well. If you need a vintage pad installed we can do it within a few days of purchase. For those that love the little .410, vintage American shotguns, and super high condition original guns with special-order features, this gun is an affordable addition to your collection and battery of shooting irons. Just think how fun it would be hunting quail, woodcock, doves, or even rabbits or shooting clays with this gun. It has all the attributes of an investment grade shotgun at a price most can afford.
