Parker GHE 16 Gauge SxS Shotgun
30" STEEL BARRELS, 1 OF 607 MADE
General Specs: Parker, Year 1931, 16 Gauge, 7lbs 1oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 234212
The Parker Grade 2, or GH Grade, is the first in the Parker line up with the more interesting "game scene" engraving with the VH having only zig-zag border engraving and the PH some light scroll work. With the GH we have considerable more fine scroll and oval vignettes on each side and the bottom with 2 birds in each vignette. The wood is nicely figured on the GH grade and the checkering more detailed. For the gentleman that wants a representative example of a Parker bird gun he can take afield and do so affordably, the GH grade is a great start. Most upland hunters prefer a smaller gauge than the 12, and from an investment standpoint, they made more than 10 times more 12's than 16's, with only 607 Parker GH guns produced with Parker Special Steel barrels. Beware that most GH guns you see are damascus guns which hold a much different value in the market place. This gun, serial number 234212 made in 1931, is one of only 118 made with 30" steel barrels and remains in factory original configuration with all original parts numbered to the gun. The engraving, screws, checkering, case color, and wood are in excellent factory condition and the gun has not been restored in anyway except the barrels have been reblued. The screws appear to be unturned except the trigger guard screw. This is one of those untouched guns with lots of factory case color, gorgeous wood, special features and nice dimensions that is very hard to find today. Of course with the rarity and desirability, the value will continue to increase as you enjoy its use.
