Parker VHE 28 Gauge - "OO" FRAME, FACTORY STRAIGHT RARE 30" BARRELS, AS NEW!
Description: Parker VHE 28 Gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun "OO" FRAME, FACTORY STRAIGHT GRIP, RARE 30" BARRELS, AS NEW! General Specs: Parker, Year 1916, 28 Gauge "OO" Frame, 6lbs 2oz, SxS Serial Number: 174010 In the world of Parkers the 28 gauge is the Holy Grail. In fact, when considering any vintage American double gun, the 28ga. is the most desirable as only Parker and Ithaca made guns in this diminutive gauge. I believe there are more shooters searching for the 28ga. than the .410 because the 28 ga. is so much more capable when chasing upland birds and game. Only 1411 28ga. VH grade Parkers were produced, with at least 1/3 of them being made on the 20ga. or "O" frame and hence heavy and less desirable. So, less than 1000 guns on the "OO" frame makes this a rare gun. Most in the Parker world are aware of the reputation garnered by Doug Turnbull Restorations as the premier restoration artist when it comes to Parker guns and he is responsible for the metal work on this restored Parker. This particular VHE, sn174010 made in 1916, is extra rare as it is only 1 of 79 with 30” barrels, 1 of 79 shipped with the English style stock, 1 of 240 or so with ejectors, so it is a very rare gun indeed. The gun is listed in the Parker Serialization and Identification book just as you see it now with 30” barrels, English stock, and ejectors. The gun has been restored in its entirety and has only a few minor handling marks, with perfect bores, delightful balance and weighing in at just 6lbs. 2oz., perfect checkering, fine oil finish, superb wood to metal fit, perfect mechanics, everything tight as new on breech face and hinge pin. You could look for a decade and not find another with this configuration…”OO” frame, 30” barrels, straight stock, and ejectors. What a gun for upland birds and sporting clays! Don’t let this one get by you. Thanks for looking.
