It's pretty rare to come accross a matched pair of premium Spanish sidelock doubles at this price. All in a very nice double leather case.
The guns are made by Victor Sarasqueta. For those who don't know a lot about the history of the Spanish gun trade, Victor was at a time, along with Pedro Arrizabalaga, considered one of the top producers of best guns. The engraving and feel of these guns are truly outstanding.
We have had the wood completely redone and recheckered and the guns have not been handled or shot since. There are a few small scratches and scrapes on the barrels but nothing really noticeable and nothing you would not expect from guns this age. A reblueing of the barrels would result in what would essentially be a new pair of guns at a fraction of replacement price.
These are true sidelocks with cocking indicators and the pictures will show the extensive engraving.
Gun #1 is choked .010 and .010 and Gun #2 is choked .010 and .035. I can't account for the difference in the left barrel chokes. It's likely the guns were ordered that way or perhaps someone slightly opened the #1 left barrel. We don't know.
Here's a chance to own a very stylish pair of high quality sidelocks at a great value!
This firearm is from the Oliver-Brice collection. The principal owned a private equity investment firm in Switzerland which allowed him to travel extensively in the UK and Europe. His passion was finding and researching high quality/investment grade British and European double shotguns. His collection is extensive and includes a number of unique firearms like this one. The owner would consider a trade of a fine/collector watch as he is a collector of those as well.
