1860s MOBILE ALA Antique Double Barrel 12 GAUGE
Description:
1860s MOBILE ALA Antique Double Barrel 12 GAUGE
“J.W. DANNE MOBILE ALA” Marked Barrel
Here we present an antique J.W. Danne Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, circa the 1860s in Mobile, Alabama. J.W. Danne of Mobile, Alabama, is a known gun maker or dealer in arms from 1860-1868. This shotgun would have made a practical hunting shotgun in the South, around the time of the American Civil War. The top of the barrel is marked “J.W. DANNE MOBILE ALA”. The locks and hammers are tastefully engraved.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are very dark. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is very dark as well, with a little shallow “worming”. The bores are oxidized like the outside. The hammers move, but do not hold cock. This would be a fantastic choice for displaying over the fireplace in the hunting lodge.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 32-3/8 inches in length.
Caliber: 12 gauge
Overall condition as seen in photos.
