A. H. Fox C Grade 12 Gauge - 32" HEAVY FOWLER, 1907, GORGEOUS WOOD
Description: A. H. Fox C Grade 12 Gauge Side-by-Side 32" HEAVY FOWLER, 1907, GORGEOUS WOOD General Specs: Fox, Year 1907, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 10oz, Side by Side Serial Number: 8627 The early Fox guns are known to be the finest of the bunch. Ansley H. Fox was in full charge at the time, and during the year this gun was made, 1907, Ansley was inspecting each gun personally as witnessed by his personal signature on the hang tags of the era. I find the early Fox guns to be most interesting. The internal parts are finely polished, the wood selection for the grade was the most figured, the engraving and general workmanship superb. This C Grade sn8627 shows evidence of the era, with fabulous French walnut with bold marble figure and fiddleback that far exceeds the wood on a later C's, clear sharp engraving with a superb setter on the bottom vignette, and perfect mechanics, crisp triggers, action still tight on face, barrels tight on the hinge pin, and the top lever well right of center. Even the screws are still perfect! The factory original 28LPI checkering is perfectly executed and the barrel blue is over 90% and factory original. Obviously this gun was well cared for all its life. The only thing done to this gun in the last 108 years is the wood has been restored to perfection. All parts are original to the gun. Best of all is the 32" #1 weight barrels with Full chokes both sides, Krupp steel and super reinforced forend lug! This is your heavy duty 12ga. gun for blocking the cornfields for pheasants or shooting the long ducks and geese late in the season. I have used Fox guns like this for farm pigeons in February knocking birds from the sky at 65 yards. These guns were made to shoot long range birds and hit them hard. Put a few spreader loads in your pocket for the right barrel and you now have M/F patterns. Weighing 7lbs. 10oz. with weight forward attitude, you will not stop your swing on the crossing shots. These days 32" barrels are super popular for birds or clays, and few guns were made with them. The barrels are great with factory .728 bore diameter and 31 thousandths wall thickness at the thinnest point anywhere. Ribs are tight, chambers are 2 3/4" and the bores are mirror fine. With 14 1/8" LOP to the original factory butt plate, 2 3/4" drop at heel, 1 9/16" drop at comb, 5/16" cast off, this gun is shootable by most. We can add an original Silvers pad to this gun within 14 days of purchase to increase LOP if needed. This special gun won't last long, so don't hesitate or she will be gone. Thanks for looking!
