Stephen Grant 12 Bore Sidelever Trigger Plate Action with 30” Nitro Damascus Barrels
Description: *** SOLD *** It is estimated that Stephen Grant only made about 300 of their well regarded trigger plate actions. It is cocked by the sidelever which also opens the action. This rare double, number 5437, is in very good mechanical condition and is stocked in a fabulous piece of English walnut. Made in 1885 this Grant weighs 6lb 15oz. *** The action is beautifully engraved in Best Foliate scroll. The engraving is crisp. The sidelever works easily to cock the hammers and open the action. Comes with double triggers. *** The 30” nitro extractor Damascus barrels have good figure and are nicely browned. Topped with a concave game style rib engraved “Stephen Grant 67 St. Jame’s Street London”. The right barrel is bored 0.727 and has a constriction of 0.002 for Light Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is bored 0.725 with a constriction of 0.018 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. A great gun for clays or game! *** The stock was made from a fabulous piece of highly figured English walnut colored dark chocolate with caramel highlights. The stock dimensions are 15” over a 1 inch leather pad by 1-3/8” by 2”. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot. The checkering is crisp but there are a few small handling marks on the stock and forend and some wear on the leather pad. *** Used with sensible ammunition such as RST shotshells this nicely balanced double should give you a lifetime of shooting pleasure afield or at the range. *** Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing. *** See this great gun and other fine doubles at the MacNab booth at the Southern Side-By-Side at Backwoods Quail in Georgetown, SC on October 23rd – 25th 2015.
