Stephen Grant utilized this trigger plate side lever (and side cocking) action in the 1880\'s. I am not sure for how long they made them, perhaps five or six years. I am sure someone out there will tell me. :)
The action is cocked by depressing the side lever to open the gun. This translates to the lever being a little harder to open after both barrels are fired but when you get used to it is not hard at all. These guns may seem a little stiff to open also but they are not if you know the trick, one just has to depress the side lever ALL the way and it works fine.
This example is in very nice condition with excellent nitro Damascus barrels featuring bright clean bores and great wall thickness and choking.
The stock dimensions are great for most and the wood quite beautiful. *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 3576 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection.

Stephen Grant Side lever trigger plate in wonderful condition!
Description: Boxlocks - Side lever guns are functional as well as beautiful as they leave the top of the action clean to show off the shape of the action and fine engraving. Kind of like removing the umbrella from over the top of a pretty woman. Stephen Grant utilized this trigger plate side lever (and side cocking) action in the 1880\'s.
