Seller's Tutorial

The selling process is actually quite simple on GunsInternational.com  When a buyer browses guns for sale on GunsInternational.com they may click the photo, title or the word "more", which is highlighted in blue on the gun listing that they are interested in.  This will bring up the entire listing with all the details the seller has written on the gun, as well as extra photos they may have entered.  Within the entire listing there is a “Contact Seller” form that may be filled in with any questions of the gun, offers made or to ask any delivery questions on the gun. Before finalizing the sale we strongly recommend that you speak to the buyer via phone.  In addition, we recommend that you never release personal banking information.  GunsInternational.com is strictly a classified listing service and the transaction is between the buyer and the seller.  A buyer may wish to use an escrow service such as Tradiator.com at their expense.  The escrow service would hold payment until the gun has been received and agreed that it has met all expectations.  At this point the escrow service would release payment to the seller.

In almost all cases, with the exception of antiques, the transfer of a firearm requires the assistance of a local Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer (FFL).  More than likely the buyer would need to arrange for a local FFL to accept the gun for them and to complete the transfer.  If the buyer does not have a local FFL they may use our FFL search to find one in their area that would be willing to complete the transfer. Fees vary widely for this service so they may wish to check with a few.

In the upper right corner of the Web site  there is a link “Gun Links” that will assist a seller or buyer with following all the applicable state and federal laws.  Buyers and Sellers are required to know and comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws. ATF FAQ’s link  ATF Firearms FAQ    NRA Laws link NRA Gun Laws ATFStateLawsLinkATF State by State Law.

Once all the details of the sale have been agreed to by the buyer and seller, the buyer sends direct to the seller the payment and a copy of the FFL License (which includes the FFL address that the gun must be shipped to). The seller should verify via our link to ATF EZ check under FFL links that the FFL license is current.  Once the seller is confident that the payment has completely cleared the seller ships the gun to the FFL. It is GunsInternational.com's policy that there is a minimum 3 day inspection period to all buyers.

Unless the buyer and seller agree to modify, as may be the case in a new gun, the return policy is three (3) calendar days from the day the item(s) are received by the buyer or delivered to the FFL acting for the buyer.  The item may be returned for any reason, but the buyer must notify the seller within the three (3) calendar day inspection period.  The buyer must start the return within the next four (4) calendar days to receive a complete refund, less all shipping charges.  In other words shipping must start within one week of receipt of the item(s).  The return shipping must be of equal shipping level, including insurance i.e. Priority, Express, Blue Label etc.  The return item MUST be in the same condition as when shipped to the buyer.  This is an inspection period only, a gun is not to be fired.  Recommendation: Confirm purchase with all details via the Contact Seller form within the listing and print out the listing for your records. Any modification of the 3 day return policy must be in writing.

The first step is to to list a gun for sale is to register.  There is no charge for registering. All listings do need to be renewed on a 90 day basis if still available.  There are no renewal fees.

If the Gun was sold on GunsInternational.com be sure to check the Sold on GunsInternational.com circle.  The second pop up allows you to fill in the actual price the gun sold at in the event it sold for less than the advertised price.  If you do not fill in the sold price the listing price will be used. How do I search for better results?

We have three separate searches available on GunsInternational.com:How do I use the Tell a Friend?

How do I use the Tell a Friend?

Simply click on the link "Tell a Friend".  Complete the pop up form, fill in the code and then click send. Why do we have that pain in the neck code to fill in?  To stop unsavory people on the internet from using our site to send spam and scam mail. The Tell a Friend link on the left side of the Web site Tells Friend about GunsInternational.com's Web site.  The Tell a Friend link within a listing Tells a Friend about that specific listing. One note here, if you are a registered buyer and signed in your information will automatically be filled in the form.

How do I use View All by this Seller?

Simply click the link and in preview format all listings currently available by that seller will come up for you to browse.

How do I use the "Watch this Listing"?

You must be a registered member and signed in on GunsInternational.com to use this feature. How do I create a "Wish List"?

You must be a registered member and signed in on GunsInternational.com to use this feature.

“Wish List” will search nightly all the “New Today” gun listings and send you an email when there is a match automatically email you as to it's availability.

To create a wish list:

Under the Buyer's Tools, click on Wish List
In the Wish List page, click on the link to "Add to Wish List Search"

Fill in the criteria that is important to you, name the Wish List, and save it.  Complete a saved "Wish List” for each gun you wish to receive an email notification from GunsInternational.com.  Once you have saved the "Wish List"criteria, you will be emailed automatically when guns added to the site for sale match your specifications.

Broad Wish Lists: Fill out one search criteria such as the Sellers Screen Name, which will give you all new listings by a specific seller,  Category for all new listings within that category or Manufacturer for all new listings within one manufacturer, etc. Another words one criteria will bring up all listings that match this single criterion.

The search may be narrowed by selecting more then one criteria.

Example:

Keyword:  box lock

Category:  Shotguns-English Double
Gauge:  16

The results will only include guns listed in the category Shotguns-English Double that are 16 gauge and have the exact match of box lock written in the description. Warning here, the English double 16 boxlock that you are looking for may be added to the site, but if the seller did not put the words box lock in the listing then you will not have a match.  Be careful how much you narrow it down.

The Keyword searches the title and description and must match the text written in the listing.   The word entered in the keyword box must match the text the seller uses exactly.  The keyword phrase entered in the keyword box must match the text and order of the text the seller uses exactly. As no two sellers write their titles or descriptions the same, less is better here.

Example:
sxs will not match side by side.  To further illustrate the details of this point, if you fill in just the word "box" in the keyword list, it will bring up any listing that contains "b o x " such as "Box lock" and "new in box", however the word "boxlock" together will not bring up box lock, as box lock written separately will be viewed at two separate words.  Furthermore, the keyword phrases must match the same order as in the listing, Belgium Midas will not match Midas
Belgium

How do I create a "Saved Search"?

You must be a registered member and signed in on GunsInternational.com to use this feature.

“Saved Searches” will search all the gun listings or Gun Related listings on GunsInternational.com, without you having to fill in your criteria over and over again.

To create a Saved Search:

Under the Buyer's Tools, click on Saved Searches
In the Saved Searches page, click on the link to "Add to Saved Searches"

Fill in the criteria that is important to you, name the Saved Search, and save it.  Complete a "Saved Search” for each gun you wish to run searches for on GunsInternational.com.  Once you have saved these search criteria you can visit your saved search page and run these at your convenience.

Broad Saved Searches: Fill out one search criteria such as the Sellers Screen Name, which will give you all new listings by a specific seller,  Category for all new listings within that category or Manufacturer for all new listings within one manufacturer, etc.

What is the return policy of buying guns on GunsInternational.com?

Please be sure to clarify all shipping costs and the return policy with the seller.  It is GunsInternational.com's policy that there is a minimum 3 day inspection period afforded to all buyers, unless other agreed to between buyer and seller. For an example a no return policy is common in the purchase a new gun.

How can I check on a seller that I would like to buy a gun from?

GunsInternational.com is committed to it's users personal and financial information protection.  We utilize high levels of internet security to protect your private personal and financial information.  While a buyer being defrauded by a seller on our site is exceedingly rare, you must realize that you are dealing over the internet and as such take the necessary precautions. You must gain a comfort level with who you are dealing with on the site.

  1. If they are a FFL, ask for their FFL number and check under our FFL links on the ATF Online EZ check system, that they are currently registered.
  2. You may also go to www.anywho.com  and perform a reverse number look up to make sure they are who they say they are.
  3. Be sure to clarify the seller's return policy. GunsInternational.com's return guideline is: Unless the buyer and seller agree to modify, as may be the case in a new gun, the return policy is three (3) calendar days from the day the item(s) are received by the buyer.
  4. Prepayment for the gun is usually required.  Be sure to follow the sellers instructions and if possible for your protection pay by credit card and if not pay by US Postal Order for your protection.  Be sure to include all of your shipping information, as well as your phone number.
  5. Also, it is within your rights to use an Escrow service, such as www.tradiator.com, to hold your funds until you accept the gun. This agreement, as well as, who bears the cost would have to be agreed to by the seller.

Should you have any questions or need assistance please email 24/7 support@gunsinternational.com   or  M-F 9:00am-5pm EST call 727-786-7441.

  • The first is the General Search box located on the home page, which uses Google search technology. In the General Search you may enter multiple criteria i.e. Browning Diana 12 ga. The search will return All exact matches first (IF there are any) and then the matches of two preferences and finally the matches on one criteria etc.  If you wish to only bring back limited results insert the word "and" in between the search words, i.e. Browning and Diana and .410 will only bring back Browning Diana's in a .410.

  • The Advanced Search available which is accessed by clicking on Advanced Search just under the General Search box. Within the Advanced Search you may, as in my example above, Fill in Keyword as you would in the General Search.  In addition in advanced search you may also search within a specific Sellers listings, Area Code, State, Country, Category, within price parameters, Antique etc.

  • The third search is our Saved Search. To create a Saved Search you must be registered. You access the Saved Search under Buyer Tools on the home page. The Saved Search is the same Search technology as the Advanced Search but the criteria can be saved and run at your leisure without having to fill it in over and over. Hint: Many listers abbreviate and magnum would not bring back Mag for example. Needless to say all search results are dependent upon the wording within the sellers listing.
