#1441 Springfield 1870 rifled musket, 32-1/2” x 50/70CF
Description: #1441 Springfield 1870 rifled musket, 32-1/2” x 50/70CF with a current condition bore of about a 6 as rated on a scale of 10 and looks like it will clean to perhaps a 7. It will probably still have some small amounts of spotty pitting, but does have good rifling and should be almost as accurate as a “9” bore considering that the 500 grain slugs are not “target loads” no matter of HOW good the bore may be! The exterior is average or a little above, the cartouches are readable, the wood having the usual scuffing and bruises and the metal with a thin mottled patina. Correct “barrel” shaped cleaning rod. About 11000+ of this model were made between 1870-1873 and they were the last version of the 50/70Gvt Allin patented Infantry rifle. Relatively scarce Trapdoor model for amounts made. VG $985 SOLD Antique: Yes |
