#4908 Colt 1851 Navy revolver, 4th Variation, mixed numbers, 142XXX
Description:
#4908 Colt 1851 Navy revolver, 4th Variation, mixed numbers, 142XXX
on rear half, 175XXX on barrel assy but overall a VERY decent Navy with a VERY nice cylinder scene. VG typical blackpowder bore, tight smooth action with no looseness in the barrel to frame junction, very crisp metal with some minor freckle pitting and a plum brown patina. Excellent grips with about 80% original grip varnish. The cylinder scene is Very Fine, being about 80-85% intact and having a good “Engaged…” line.
Pity it is a mismatch and probably was done during its life on the post-Civil War frontier by some trading post gunsmith to keep the gun in operable condition …but other than this it is a very decent Navy Colt. VG+ as described. $1650
