Early Colt first model Dragoon percussion revolver. All matching serial #5920. .44 caliber, U.S. military issued. 7.5" octagon to round barrel. Metal overall is a pleasing, untouched grey. German silver front sight, one-line barrel address clearly stamped "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY". Left side of frame has "COLT'S PATENT U.S.", all there, slightly worn, "S" of "U.S." somewhat obscured. Inspector marks "N" appear on other various parts, top of backstrap just behind hammer, cylinder, barrel and frame. The bottom of the brass square back trigger guard has a period "I X I" carved in. The one-piece walnut grips are slim and original to the gun. A light horizontal line runs at the base of each grip. Otherwise grips are fine with smooth age handling wear. Mechanics are tight. The bore is very good and will clean better. The six-shot cylinder has the correct round stop notches. Faint cylinder scene. Original rammer and wedge. For the serious collector of early Colt revolvers.
